Consulting with Grade Level Teams or Departments

The IWP leader may consult with grade-level teams or departments in a school to guide teachers as they implement a new instructional strategy, trouble-shoot challenges, or study student work to identify student abilities or needs, or to observe the effect of a teaching strategy on students’ writing skill. These meetings can be coordinated with workshop sessions and/or demonstration lessons to deepen support for teachers’ adoption of new approaches to teaching writing. If the school has a literacy coach, he or she would be involved and help lead these meetings, based on planning with the IWP leader.
